Overview tour
Science is important to our society today. For our society to function, the relationship between science and society requires cross-disciplinary collaboration, dialogue and trust. Although we argue about policies and politics endlessly – what we should do – we seldom invest the time and effort in discussing what we know and how we know it. No wonder science and scientists are misunderstood. In public, we seem to ignore the tools of empirical observation, experimental evidence and scientific reason. Although it is arguably more important now than ever before, our public discussion of science is generally weak and at times completely dysfunctional while the gap isolating science from our society as a whole is deep, wide and perilous.
This tour is designed to provide some context to appreciate our approach. Science Media and Engagement Strategies was founded to identify trends and successful initiatives closing the gap between scientists and society, to partner with leaders in science communication and outreach and to help amplify and replicate their success.
